Los Angeles police have arrested Isaiah Lee, the man who tackled comedian Dave Chappelle during a weekend comedy event at Hollywood Bowl. Police allege that Lee jumped onstage, pointed a replica handgun with a knife blade attached at the audience, and knocked Chappelle off his feet. Witnesses say that Lee was tackled and detained by security guards, who then sent him to the hospital for treatment and left him in the custody of the LAPD.
The LAPD is still investigating a motive behind the attack but the suspect appeared injured and was detained by security guards. It’s unclear what kind of injuries Lee sustained as he was apprehended, but it was clear that he was mainly attacked on his face. Lee is currently in police custody and has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. David Chappelle’s attacker will remain behind bars at the Hollywood jail with a $30,000 bail bond.

The suspect Isaiah Lee raps under the name “NoName_Trapper.” One of Lee’s songs is called “Dave Chappell.” He also has recorded rap about former President of United States Of America Donald Trump, saying: “Why is everybody always hatin’ on my president.”

After this incident, Netflix sent a statement to NPR that says, “We care deeply about the safety of our creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence.”
The suspect Lee’s sister, Shawne, who is living in Brooklyn, declined to comment except “First of all, we have to find a lawyer for my brother” she added.
Why Attacker Attack Dave Chappelle?
As of now, It will be unclear and unofficial if we claim about his motive to attack stand-up comedian until the police department or Lee himself claim or issue the statement. In a video, the suspect was caught laughing at Dave’s jokes before taking these wild steps. But one thing is clear he was behind Dave for years as he also has a rap song on his 2020 album titled, “Dave Chapelle’ on Spotify.
